“Police killed Henry Hicks” – Islington community marches for justice

More than a thousand people protested in London today, against the killing of a young Arsenal fan, Henry Hicks. Jonas L, Lois JC and Bat provide some words, video and pictures.

Brilliant 1,500-strong march through Highbury and Islington shouting ‘Justice for Henry Hicks’ and ‘No justice – no peace’ from the rooftops. Very young, local community, working-class and London-diverse.

Henry Hicks was harassed by the police for ages and then eventually killed by them, in their attempts to pursue him. This is yet another example of the Police’s harassment of working-class youth and their demonisation of working-class communities.

You couldn’t have asked for a stronger response today.

Activists and militants should be showing solidarity with this struggle and attempting to draw links between this, and struggles their already involved in. Crucially, anti-police racism and anti-austerity struggles.
