SUMMARY:Popular uprisings from Belarus to Lebanon
DESCRIPTION:After the seismic blast that ripped apart Beirut\, and the falsification of the presidential election in Belarus by Aliaksandr Lukashenka\, mass protests have exploded in both countries. The movements in each country are faced with similar tactical questions\, combating state security forces on the streets. Join our speakers for a discussion on imperialism and popular uprisings\, and what internationalist solidarity would look like.\n\nRima Majed- assistant professor of sociology at the American University of Beirut\nVolodymyr Artiukh- researcher on labour movements in Belarus and editor at Commons: Journal of Social Criticism\nSimon Pirani- writer\, historian\, researcher of energy\, Russia\, Ukraine and the Caspian\, author of Change in Putin’s Russia: power\, money and people\n\nPlease register in advance via zoom to get joining details. \n
