Uprising in Sudan
15 July 2019 at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The uprising since December 2018 has included occupations of public spaces, mass demonstrations and strikes. It toppled dictator Omar el Bashir and kept going despite brutal repression. The UK and EU are complicit – funding the Sudanese armed forces and militias as part of the Khartoum process to stop refugees reaching Europe.
Now leaders of the uprising have agreed a power-sharing transition deal with the military, but a national day of civil disobedience has been called for 14 July.
Join this discussion, led by a Sudanese activist based in Manchester. What does the power-sharing deal mean? What are the latest developments in the movement? How can people in Britain help and show solidarity?
