Popular uprisings from Belarus to Lebanon
12 September at 10:00 am – 11:30 pm
After the seismic blast that ripped apart Beirut, and the falsification of the presidential election in Belarus by Aliaksandr Lukashenka, mass protests have exploded in both countries. To what extent are the Covid-19 pandemic, economic crises and inter-imperialist intrigue all structuring the social upheaval in both Belarus and Lebanon? The movements in each country are faced with similar tactical questions, combating state security forces on the streets. Join our speakers for a discussion on imperialism and popular uprisings, and what internationalist solidarity would look like.
- Rima Majed- assistant professor of sociology at the American University of Beirut
