Covid capitalism

3 December 2020 at 8:00 pm9:30 pm

Capitalism and its ecological destruction are making new infectious diseases more likely and have thrown existing social issues into sharp relief – inadequate health and social care, poverty, debt, homelessness and overcrowded housing, insecure work without sick pay, racism and inequality.
Covid has also tipped a world economy, already in trouble, off a cliff.
All this throws up many questions for socialists – about the role of the capitalist state in welfare, repression and surveillance; about solidarity and alternative futures.
Join this open discussion, introduced by activist and writer Gareth Dale, who co-wrote on the subject in the US-based Spectre journal: https://spectrejournal.com/covid-capitalism/
