What does Boris mean for the British establishment?
19 August 2019 at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
More cops, more prisons and a “closer relationship” to Donald Trump – news of Boris Johnson’s undemocratic election seems to have filled the news over the last few weeks.
We will discuss the Prime Minister, and how the left needs to reorient to fight him. Anindya Bhattacharyya will lead off the conversation and then we will open discussion to everyone.
Does Boris Johnson mean a change of direction for the Tories? Since he wasn’t decided by a general election, how can we tell if he’s popular or not with the British population? What will his pro-Brexit stance and his willingness to leave the EU with no deal mean for ordinary people? How do we fight back against the Tories under his leadership?
